Types of leave in Lebanon

Paid time off

Lebanese employees are entitled to paid time off as follows:- One to five years of service: 15 working days- Five to ten years of service: 17 working days- Ten to fifteen years of service: 19 working days- Over fifteen years of service: 21 working days

Public Holidays

Lebanon observes official public holidays based on national, religious, and cultural significance. The number of holidays may vary slightly by year due to lunar calendar for some religious holidays.

Sick leave

Decree No. 11802 (regulating occupational safety and health) provides protections for employees who fall ill due to their working conditions. Otherwise, employees generally earn sick leave depending on their tenure, as stated below:- 3 months to 2 years of employment: 15 days leave with full pay and 15 days with half pay- More than 2 to 4 years of employment: 1 month with full pay and 1 month with half pay- More than 4 to 6 years of employment: 1.5 month with full pay and 1.5 month with half pay- More than 6 to 10 years of employment: 2 month with full pay and 2 month with half pay- More than 10 years of employment: 2.5 month with full pay and 2.5 month with half pay

Maternity leave

Female employees are entitled to 10 weeks of job-protected maternity leave (with benefits equal to their normal wages) starting either before or after delivery.

Paternity/parental leave

Fathers are entitled to 3 days of paid paternity leave.

Bereavement leave

Employees are entitled to two days of paid compassionate leave in the event of the death of a close family member.

Marriage leave

Employees are granted a 1 week paid leave for their marriage, and they are only entitled once during their employment with the company.
