Employees are entitled to up to 30 days’ paid leave per year (upon completion of one year’s service with an employer).
Zimbabwe observes 14 official public holidays each year. Employees must receive paid days of leave for all these holidays, with employees who are required to work receiving twice their usual wages.
Employees may receive up to 90 days’ fully paid sick leave and an additional 90 days of half-paid sick leave. Employees must provide a certificate from a medical practitioner.
Female employees are entitled to 98 days’ paid leave, either side of their due date.
Fathers are not entitled to paternity leave under law. However, organizations may offer paid or unpaid time off as a benefit.
Employees may receive 12 days of special leave for court duties, union meetings, police questioning, death of a loved one, and other grounds for compassionate leave.
